Automated attendance management with RFID and geospatial visualization

Abstract
Aim/Background:
This research aims to develop an automated attendance tracking system that integrates radio frequency identification (RFID) technology for real-time student identification and Leaflet.js for geospatial visualization. The system is designed to enhance accuracy, reduce administrative workload, improve campus security, and offer location-aware monitoring by providing a digital solution to replace manual attendance recording at Matalom National High School.

Methods:
The system was developed using the Agile software development methodology to ensure iterative improvements based on user feedback. The research involved requirement gathering, prototyping, implementation, and evaluation. RFID readers were installed at strategic locations to capture attendance data through student ID cards, while Leaflet.js was employed to display geospatial tracking information by integrating geolocation data from students' smartphones. The system was evaluated using ISO/IEC 25,010 quality metrics, including functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, portability, compatibility, and security.

Results:
The system significantly improved attendance tracking by eliminating manual errors and enabling real-time location monitoring. Evaluation results showed high effectiveness across all quality attributes, with functionality (4.98), reliability (4.85), usability (5.00), and efficiency (4.95). Users reported increased convenience and efficiency, with enhanced security measures through role-based access controls and geospatial insights.

Conclusion:
The integration of genetic algorithms and facial recognition in a web-based scheduling system demonstrated improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and data security. Future enhancements may include improving facial recognition in low-light conditions and expanding system compatibility for mobile devices.
